Not at all! Our kits are designed for both beginners and experienced artists. The numbered guide makes it easy to follow along, and many users find the process meditative and relaxing. Simply match the numbers on the canvas with the numbers on the paint and start creating!
Some colors, mostly yellows, whites, light pinks and pale blues, are semi-transparent, so the printed numbers and lines can show through after one coat. That is normal. Let the first coat dry, then add a second one. Painting the light areas before the dark ones next to them also helps, and avoid adding water, which makes the paint thinner.
If the paint is still wet, wipe it off with a damp cotton swab. If it has dried, simply paint over it with the right color once it is completely dry. Covering a dark color with a light one may need two or three thin coats. Acrylic paint is very forgiving, so a small slip is easy to hide.
Close each pot tightly after use, since acrylic paint dries quickly when left open. If a color has become thick, add one or two drops of water and stir. If it has dried out completely, contact us with the color number: within 60 days of delivery we send replacement paints for free.
It depends on the kit level, the size and your own pace. As a guide, Beginner kits take about a week of relaxed painting, Intermediate kits a little more than a week, and Advanced kits two weeks or more. A larger size or Premium detail adds time. It's not a race, so enjoy the process.
A pre-stretched kit is ready to hang once the paint is dry, with a hanging kit included. A rolled canvas can go on our DIY frame or to a local framer. Our canvases are made in metric sizes (40x50 cm is slightly smaller than 16x20"), so measure the painted area before buying a frame.

The sitter is widely believed to be Lisa Gherardini, wife of the Florentine silk merchant Francesco del Giocondo, which is why the painting is also called La Gioconda. Leonardo painted her on a poplar wood panel and kept working on it for years. It came into the French royal collection and now hangs in the Louvre.
It became truly world famous after it was stolen from the Louvre in 1911. It was recovered in Florence two years later.
Leonardo began the portrait in Florence around 1503. He never handed it over to the family. Instead he carried it with him for the rest of his life, adding to it as he moved between Florence, Milan and Rome. In 1516 he went to France at the invitation of King Francis I, and he died there in 1519.
The painting stayed in France after his death. For a time Napoleon kept it in his bedroom, before it went back to the Louvre.
She sits in a calm, three quarter pose, hands folded, her body forming a steady pyramid. That arrangement was copied by portrait painters for generations. Behind her, a winding landscape of paths, a bridge and misty mountains fades into blue, a trick Leonardo used to show distance.
Look closely at the horizon. It sits lower on one side than the other, which adds to the shifting feel of her expression. Many visitors are also surprised by the size, about 30 by 21 inches. It was made as a private portrait for a home.
Leonardo used sfumato, blending tones so softly that there are no hard edges. In a numbered version, those transitions become many small, close shades around the eyes and mouth. Paint the landscape and dark clothing first, and finish the face slowly in good light. Step back often, since soft blending reads best from a few feet away.
Find it in our famous paintings collection, beside Venus (detail) and Girl with a Pearl Earring.
