This painting was a joy to accomplish and the end result was beautiful.
I was a bit hesitant to finish this one since the number patches are on the large side, but it came out quite nice (although more like a modern interpretation). So it definitely doesn’t look as fine as the picture on the website, but the recipient of this gift was very happy with it.
Why it is receiving 4 stars is because some of the numbers were missing on canvas and printout. I had to guess on those areas. Had to also put a clear coat of Gesso on canvas because canvas was to soft and paint would not adhere. But all and all fun to do with positive results.

This was a gift. The recipient was a little confused that the paints were labeled strangely (multiple paint colors having the same numbers), but I think she figured it out eventually. None of the paints were dried out.

Not at all! Our kits are designed for both beginners and experienced artists. The numbered guide makes it easy to follow along, and many users find the process meditative and relaxing. Simply match the numbers on the canvas with the numbers on the paint and start creating!
Some colors, mostly yellows, whites, light pinks and pale blues, are semi-transparent, so the printed numbers and lines can show through after one coat. That is normal. Let the first coat dry, then add a second one. Painting the light areas before the dark ones next to them also helps, and avoid adding water, which makes the paint thinner.
If the paint is still wet, wipe it off with a damp cotton swab. If it has dried, simply paint over it with the right color once it is completely dry. Covering a dark color with a light one may need two or three thin coats. Acrylic paint is very forgiving, so a small slip is easy to hide.
Close each pot tightly after use, since acrylic paint dries quickly when left open. If a color has become thick, add one or two drops of water and stir. If it has dried out completely, contact us with the color number: within 60 days of delivery we send replacement paints for free.
It depends on the kit level, the size and your own pace. As a guide, Beginner kits take about a week of relaxed painting, Intermediate kits a little more than a week, and Advanced kits two weeks or more. A larger size or Premium detail adds time. It's not a race, so enjoy the process.
A pre-stretched kit is ready to hang once the paint is dry, with a hanging kit included. A rolled canvas can go on our DIY frame or to a local framer. Our canvases are made in metric sizes (40x50 cm is slightly smaller than 16x20"), so measure the painted area before buying a frame.

Roberto Ferruzzi, an Italian painter who worked in Venice, painted Madonnina in 1897 and won a prize with it at the second Venice Biennale that year. His model was a local girl holding her baby brother. Prints spread around the world so quickly that the image became a devotional favorite, often called the Madonna of the Streets.
The original canvas was later lost, so the picture lives on mostly through reproductions like this one.
Ferruzzi painted an ordinary scene: a young girl from a poor Venetian family, wrapped in a shawl, holding a sleeping child against her shoulder. He gave it the affectionate title Madonnina, little Madonna, and viewers did the rest. Printed on holy cards, calendars and wall prints, it was soon read as the Virgin Mary with the infant Jesus.
That double life is part of its charm. It works as a tender family picture and as a quiet religious image.
The composition is very simple. Mother figure and child form one rounded shape, framed by the dark shawl, with a soft sky behind them. Look at how the girl's gaze drifts down and away while the baby sleeps, eyes closed, against her cheek. All the warmth sits in that small space between the two faces.
The kit is beginner friendly. The shawl and background are broad, calm areas, so save your focus for the two faces and the small hands, where expression matters most. Painting the darker shawl before the skin tones helps keep the faces soft and bright.
