Rolled (No Frame) – The canvas is shipped rolled inside a sturdy PVC tube. It’s easy to store, travel with, or take to your local framer.
DIY Frame – You receive a rolled canvas plus four wooden stretcher bars. Simply assemble the frame, stretch the canvas at home, and enjoy a snug, custom fit.
Pre-Stretched on Frame – The canvas arrives already mounted on a wooden stretcher frame. Start painting right away and hang it up as soon as you're done.
Canvas Board – The canvas is securely fixed to a 0.2-inch thick wooden panel, giving you a sturdy, warping-resistant surface ideal for tabletop painting.

How many colors to get?
More colors mean more shades and finer detail. Fewer colors mean a simpler pattern that is quicker to finish.

"The Storming Buffalo" was born out of a Facebook picture that was repeated 3 years later.
A farmer out of one of the provinces in South Africa wanted to hear if I can do a painting of a buffalo for him.
I asked Canvas By Numbers to convert a small picture into an A0 size. This presented some import issues at the borders of my country. We settled for the paint sets and a PDF version of the final product.
I printed it in SA and the framer pasted it on a backing board. This worked much easier than a block canvas.
After painting it, my "team" helped me get it to and from the framer, wrap it especially for a 900 kilometer road to its owner and then it was transported to the owner.
The video shows the surprise delivery and the farmer and his wife's absolute joy in receiving his requested painting.
They comment about having no words, wanting to cry and the character of the buffalo.

Choose a sharp, well-lit photo where the main subject is close to the camera. Use the original file from your phone or camera, not a screenshot or a photo sent through a messaging app. Avoid strong backlight, shadows across faces, color filters and small text. The more people or detail in the photo, the larger the canvas should be:
One person or pet, close up: 12x16" or 16x20".
Two or three people, or a pet with some background: 16x20" or 16x24".
Groups of four or more, landscapes and busy scenes: 20x24" or 24x32".
Square photos: 16x16" or 20x20".
Standard (up to 24 colors): simple photos with bold colors and a plain background. The easiest to paint.
Extra-Detailed (up to 36 colors): a good fit for most pet photos and portraits of one or two people.
Premium (up to 48 colors): soft skin tones, sunsets, skies and group photos, where smoother shading makes a visible difference.
Master (up to 60 colors): photos full of fine shading. It works on any size, but 16x20" or larger lets the extra colors show.
"Up to" means we use as many colors as we can get from your photo, so a simple photo may not use them all.
A free online generator gives you a pattern to print on paper. You still need a canvas, and you have to buy and mix every color yourself to match the numbers. A custom kit comes with your photo printed on a numbered canvas, pre-mixed acrylic paints numbered to match, three brushes and a reference sheet, so you can start painting the day it arrives.

While we carefully match your photo to the painting, remember that a paint by numbers kit is a stylized version of your image. Minor artistic adjustments may occur for clarity and color balance.
Some colors, mostly yellows, whites, light pinks and pale blues, are semi-transparent, so the printed numbers and lines can show through after one coat. That is normal. Let the first coat dry, then add a second one. Painting the light areas before the dark ones next to them also helps, and avoid adding water, which makes the paint thinner.
If the paint is still wet, wipe it off with a damp cotton swab. If it has dried, simply paint over it with the right color once it is completely dry. Covering a dark color with a light one may need two or three thin coats. Acrylic paint is very forgiving, so a small slip is easy to hide.
