Headed out of town for a few days so it was super convenient to have the project all together to bring. Finished project is beautiful and the process was relaxing. Brush quality was just okay and had stray hairs so I had to purchase a few straight brushes to finish up, but that was okay.
I just received this paint by numbers, and I am so excited to dive into this artwork!! I want to see the finished product, but I also want to take my time and enjoy this piece😊 it is going to look so beautiful hung up on our wall!
I truly enjoyed working with the inspiration photo and paints to create my floral painting, and the paints worked well for blending and shading. The actual PBN guidance does not provide the detail needed for faithful reproduction because it is intermediate rather than advanced. I reworked most of the flowers and leaves to approach the intended effect, liberally adjusting colors and blending. I deducted a star because there is no true blue in the paint set - a serious problem for creating the background effect, and without a blue you also can't blend the needed magentas or violets. I also needed to add greens to create the foliage. But the kit provides opportunities for creativity and the variety of flowers were fun to work with. I changed the vase for fun based on a different inspiration photo.
My first ever paint by numbers. When I saw how beautiful it turned out I immediately ordered a couple more different paintings :)
Such a lovely composition and colors! Love it!
This was my favorite of the ones I have done so far. Have it hanging in my bedroom. Love it.
This is the most therapeutic of hobbies I have found. I don’t have it framed yet because I am looking for an antique gold one to display it perfectly. I think it’s beautiful and I did it! I tried water colors, but this is so much better, easier, and I can tell what it is I painted! lol. So glad I was gifted a Canvas by number so I could find my newest hobby!
Very detailed but fun.
Getting lot of great comments. I have Parkinson's but no tremors, so this 85 year old retired union carpenter now has done 30+ paintings as gifts & special orders.
Really enjoyed this design!!!
I had the best time doing this. I loved the colors
Good
I will definitely say it’s easier than the peacock 😅 I just started it and I love how vibrant it is! It’s going to be so pretty when it’s done!
love the color way
When my canvas arrived and I opened it WOW how delighted I was I am about half way through and watching it come to life with every brush stroke it will take pride of place on my wall I will send you photo when finished I would give canvas 5 ⭐️ and would recommend them to all my friends THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HELPED ❤️ PAM
My project was - Colorful arrangement 16 x 20 - no frame. I was disappointed when I saw the latest photo of this PBN project on your web site. The Vase was different. There is a purple flower on the middle right side of the picture that was colored dark brown, surrounded by black, so this flower "disappeared" on the finished painting. Your picture also "blends together the background colors on the top of the PBN. Otherwise, the paint, brushes and canvas were of very good quality. I appreciated the enclosed paper number chart as it came in handy on several occasions.
This was fun to paint and not too hard. I felt like it needed a lot of layers of paint to get rid of underlying white spots.
Frequently Asked Questions
Not at all! Our kits are designed for both beginners and experienced artists. The numbered guide makes it easy to follow along, and many users find the process meditative and relaxing. Simply match the numbers on the canvas with the numbers on the paint and start creating!
Some colors, mostly yellows, whites, light pinks and pale blues, are semi-transparent, so the printed numbers and lines can show through after one coat. That is normal. Let the first coat dry, then add a second one. Painting the light areas before the dark ones next to them also helps, and avoid adding water, which makes the paint thinner.
If the paint is still wet, wipe it off with a damp cotton swab. If it has dried, simply paint over it with the right color once it is completely dry. Covering a dark color with a light one may need two or three thin coats. Acrylic paint is very forgiving, so a small slip is easy to hide.
Close each pot tightly after use, since acrylic paint dries quickly when left open. If a color has become thick, add one or two drops of water and stir. If it has dried out completely, contact us with the color number: within 60 days of delivery we send replacement paints for free.
It depends on the kit level, the size and your own pace. As a guide, Beginner kits take about a week of relaxed painting, Intermediate kits a little more than a week, and Advanced kits two weeks or more. A larger size or Premium detail adds time. It's not a race, so enjoy the process.
A pre-stretched kit is ready to hang once the paint is dry, with a hanging kit included. A rolled canvas can go on our DIY frame or to a local framer. Our canvases are made in metric sizes (40x50 cm is slightly smaller than 16x20"), so measure the painted area before buying a frame.
Most orders ship from our California or Texas locations and arrive in 3 to 7 business days in the US. Canvas board kits and orders outside the US take 7 to 14 business days. The Shipping Information tab on this page shows the estimate for this item.
We will send tracking information to the e-mail address associated with your order once the item has shipped.
At Canvas by Numbers, we're proud of our exceptional customer service. Understanding the intricacies of art creation, we offer a 60-day guarantee where we'll send extra paints for free should you run out of any color.
Yes, safety is a top priority for us. The paints used in our kits are water-based, non-toxic, and environmentally friendly. Likewise, the materials in our diamond painting kits are non-hazardous. Always use the kits as directed and keep them out of reach of small children.
Why a White Jar Makes the Flowers Pop
A plain porcelain jar and an uncluttered background leave all the color to the bouquet. It is an old still life trick: keep the container quiet, and the eye goes straight to the blooms. Here a mix of flower types crowds together, each with its own shape and shade.
Is Colorful Arrangement Good for Intermediate Painters?
Yes. Mixing several kinds of flowers gives you more variety than a single bloom study, but the sections never feel crowded. Paint the background and jar first, since those are the calmest areas. Then work the bouquet from the flowers at the back to the ones in front, so overlapping petals stay crisp.
A Still Life That Fits Any Decor
The classic style sits easily with most furniture. Browse single blooms and full bouquets in our flowers and still life collection, or pair it with Still Life with Grapes and Gun, a moodier take on the tradition.
