Tom Thomson

Tom Thomson (1877–1917) was one of Canada's most influential landscape painters, celebrated for his vivid, expressive scenes of the northern Ontario wilderness, especially Algonquin Park. His bold color and energetic brushwork helped inspire the famous Group of Seven. His career was brief, ending with his mysterious death at 39, but his northland landscapes remain iconic.

These lean toward experienced painters, rated Intermediate and Advanced. Thomson's loose, colorful style means lots of distinct color areas to capture his energy, so they reward patience.
