Seit seinen Anfängen bei Worcester Royal Porcelain hat er sich in den Bereichen Bildhauerei, Keramik und Grafik sowohl in seinem Heimatland Großbritannien als auch in der Ausweitung seiner Reichweite im Ausland versucht. 

Macneil gründete in den USA eine Firma – Bronn – die exklusive Skulpturen amerikanischer Westernkunst herstellte. Einer seiner größten Meilensteine war die Besichtigung seiner Kunstwerke im Oval Office des Weißen Hauses. Sein Markenzeichen war die Schaffung ansprechender Kunst, die für jedermann zugänglich ist. Seine Werke, von denen viele Stadtansichten waren, finden sich heute in Grußkarten, Kunstdrucken, Wohnaccessoires und Schreibwaren.
