The Most Famous Face of the Renaissance

Botticelli painted The Birth of Venus for the Medici circle in Florence. The goddess arrives on a shell, blown to shore by the winds, and her face became a symbol of ideal beauty. It still hangs in the Uffizi Gallery today.

Getting the Hair Right

The hair is the star of this piece. Follow it in long sections, one tone at a time, so the waves stay smooth. The face is made of soft, close tones, so take it slowly and check each symbol before placing it.
